Invitation to the Launch of “Portal Poems: Perspectives on Aging,” sponsored by the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library at Fort Mason, Building C, October 26, 2 PM

Everyone, whether 20 or 120, has issues and concerns about aging. The treasure house of personal evolution is waiting to be explored by everyone interested in getting as much out of life as possible. Dr. Kominars will present a lively program of poetry from his just published book: “Portal Poems: Perspectives on Aging.” Good Sheppard Press. Please come and bring your friends to hear him read and talk about his poems.

What better way than through poetry written by someone who has lived it is there to develop a new compass in this new territory? “Portal Poems: Perspective on Aging,” offers valuable insights into this often confusing experience that can be demystified and become a threshold for the reader to better enjoy this new adventure. “Portal Poems” helps experience aging at any time, and especially in the senior years, in a new way through connecting with the past, the present and the future with compassionate objectivity inspiring the mind and opening the heart.

This collection of 236 poems is written in the seventh and eighth decade of the poet’s life in a simple, straight-forward style that is easy to understand and enjoy. The poems have not been previously published even though Kominars has been writing poetry since 1943. “Portal Poems,” explores the aging process from many different perspectives that encompass his years of university teaching and counseling survivors of life-threatening problems. “Portal Poems” is a fun and useful adventure for anyone of any age who wants to get as much out of life as possible.
