The publisher of my first book, Women Who Love Men Who Kill (Simon & Schuster), actually did somethings well: The cover was great, and the publicity --- well, they booked me on the Today Show and several others. If I were critical, which of course I am, I would say a book tour would have helped as would S & S's purchasing some prime space in big box bookstores. If I could do it over, I would have organize a multi-city tour with lectures to people in the criminal justice field, lawyers, district attorneys, and social workers, because the topic of the book is unique and I believe would have attracted good-sized audiences. Also since the book is one-of-a-kind, bookstores didn't know how to categorize it --- and I don't believe S & S did either.
