2010, a new year and good things abound. From December 7 through December 21, I participated in Goodreads.com’s book giveaway. Four hundred seventy-four readers put their names in for one of three copies of my latest novel, Mangroves and Monsters, and already I’m hearing from the winners. (BTW, kudos to the U.S. postal service for getting the books to their destinations so fast amidst the Christmas package-sending deluge.)
Two winners gave the novel four out of five stars, and I look forward to hearing from the third. Ann in Florida said: After finishing the non-fiction I'd been reading for 6 weeks, I was anxious to start Mangroves and Monsters. My first book of 2010, AND one of my favorite things to do. I read it in one day! A mystery and a romance novel all in one book. Every time I thought I had the mystery solved, the author threw in another twist...right up to the final pages! And Wendy in North Carolina added: A really good romance and mystery put together. Enjoyed it from the beginning to the end, very good read!!
Thank you, ladies - and thanks to all the lovely readers who make writers feel so accomplished.
Now, another bit of exciting news: Mangroves and Monsters will be spotlighted on Trish Silver’s website (http://trishsilver.com:80/) for the month of January. Ms. Silver is the author of When I Remember Love. Her romance novel’s trailer recently won first place in the “You Gotta Read” videos contest, and the book is getting 5-star reviews on Amazon. Here’s the YouTube link to the trailer, with original music by Alan DiCenzo and lyrics by Judy Simpson:
So . . . thank you, Trish, for allowing Mangroves this honor.
Lastly, I successfully participated in National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo again and managed to crank out a good portion of my new novel, The Churchyard Watcher. Huge congrats to all the other writers who turned in 50,000+ words during the month of November and thanks to the Office of Letters and Light for sponsorship! Now the real work begins.
2010 is getting off to a rollicking start. May you all be safe, happy and prosperous in this New Year. We love readers!
Until next time . . . Sharon
