Shana McLean Moore is the keynote speaker for Project Cornerstone's 10th annual Asset Champions Awards Breakfast at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose. 800 guests were in attendance at the event, which took place on March 19, 2009. Moore spoke to the importance of building strong community ties.

Thanks so much, Jessica. I did memorize it. Because I was so aware of the rare opportunity I was given to jump from an audience of 25-30 (which I have done many times) to this big crowd, I worked really hard to memorize it. As I delivered it, I somehow managed to remember the words while telling myself to be emotionally present, and sweep the far range of the audience while not forgetting about the table directly in front of me for real actual eye contact.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I was exhausted for 3 days afterward. It's still strange to me that something so mental can be as exhausting as a marathon when it comes to recovery. And like any sick adrenaline junkie, I'm already jonesing to do it again.
