I thought I would start a little get-to-know you blog for the Red Room. I feel as though I have stepped into the middle of each of your respective life histories, and it makes me curious as to how you got where you are today.
Don’t worry if you don’t think you have arrived anywhere terribly exciting yet. I tend to notice that reflecting on how far I have come makes me have a moment of pride over my accomplishments, when I usually spend my time hungry for the next milestone.
So I ask that anyone interested in playing along write a 500 word (max) backstory that we wouldn’t necessarily find in your official bio. Something more personal than professional, I suppose. What were the steps that led you to become a writer? You can start with your childhood or at whatever point on your life’s timeline captures your interest as a beginning.
Please title your blog entry “How I Got Here – (enter your name here) Edition” so we can quickly recognize that you’re participating in this little exercise. Be sure to keep it at 500 words or less (not 140 characters or less—Take that, Twitter), so we don’t scare people away. Heck, if you like how it turns out, you can always use it for professional purposes.
I look forward to getting to know you better through your answers!
