New York based fiction writer.
I grew up just outside New York City. While doing my graduate work in Martinique, I came to see its lush beauty as the perfect sitting for a crime story, mingling beauty and terror. That idea for a crime story became my current novel SPIDERS AND FLIES. Previously published fiction includes THE HUNTING HEART, a story collection of dark fantasy.
Each summer I co-host the Word for Word Reel Talks film commentary series at the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival in Manhattan.
Some authors I love anyway: Paul Bowles, Jorge Luis Borges, Edgar Allen Poe, Ruth Rendell, Jean Rhys, John Hawkes, William Faulkner, Herman Melville, Somerset Maughm, V.S. Naipaul, Grahame Greene, Ross MacDonald, Jim Thompson, Vladimir Nabokov, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Louis Stevenson, Roald Dahl, Muriel Spark, Ernesto Sabato, W.H. Hudson, Raymond Roussel, Arthur Conan Doyle, and on and on.
A collection of short stories.
