Born and raised in Chile I came to United States as a visiting college lecturer in 1969 and never returned to my country of origin. I completed a PhD in Spanish at the University of Kansas, and have taught Spanish and Latin American literature at several US universities. Presently I am a Full Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  I write mostly in Spanish, but lately I have been using English also. 

Influences

Jorge Luis Borges, Jose Angel Valente and Alejo Carpentier, among a number of other writers I probably do not even remember having read.

"La lira de la ira and other poems", a collection of poems in Spanish and English to be published by Bilingual Press, Arizona.
