shocking turn of events. accepted to the fringe only to realize the lie we told about the show being cast and written were, in fact, lies. So now we're rushing to remedy that.
Still, the excitement makes me see red every time I blink. The rush to May 15 is on and I can't wait. Time to edit and workshop and all the stuff that reminds me how much I love being a writer.
as a self servicing side note, anyone in the Houston area: do come out and see America / Mom (a suburban rock musical ) as part of the houston fringe festival in mid may.

In other news,
I finished my longhand play, though I have no idea how long it is because it's on little notebook paper. Still, it's the first play I've ever written about Judaism slash drug use. Two things I have known for a long time but never gotten the courage to write about. I guess that's why it was time it at all came rushing forth.
also completed the first 50 pages for my PUSH novel. Right now it's tentatively titled "Harper + Baz". So we'll see if I win.

What an experience. A true poet and musician. Afrobaroque he might call himself, but I call it angry black bubble gum pop and I love it. I can't believe I got to see him live. I didn't see him afterwards too tell him what a formative experience his play and his music have been on me as a writer and human, but I did post about it on his yahoo group and had a seizure to discover he had responded to my comment.
