The Daily Sam: I Wore a Tutu Today

“So what?” you say. “You live in San Francisco!” True enough, but I wore the tutu while doing the laundry. I also wore a tux while dancing with my vacuum cleaner, which was itself wearing a wig and glittery ballroom mask. I played a few great songs with guitarist Todd Swenson and taught the multi-talented Jason Headley some hot licks on the harmonica. All of this was being videotaped by Jaded Multimedia of San Francisco, and you will be able to see the results as a number of short clips on YouTube over the next few months. Why? Because I want do what I can to stop global warming. I also want you to eventually buy my book, How to Play the Harmonica, which is being published by Gibbs Smith Publisher this August, 2009.

Did you teach Jason Headley

Did you teach Jason Headley in the tux or in the tutu?

Tux or Tutu?

Jason Headley in a tutu--that would have been a sight worth seeing.

Incentives to buy your book ...

Let no one say that I think Sam Barry is anything less than a Prince Among Men, a Harmonica Hero, a Scourge of Pigeons. He is not, however, meant to wear a tutu.

Ever.

Promise me you will never do this again and I will buy an extra copy of your book.

Really.

I seem to have really frightened you

Watch out, Steve . . . one day, someday, the doorbell will ring, and you will open the door, and I will be standing there with a giant pigeon.

the next Bishop Tutu?

I saw it with my own eyes...a spectacular look, especially with the zebra-print feathered headdress.

Sacreligious?

He is a bishop, Kathi, and so we should watch what we say. Besides, my tutu was the traditional garrish red (or was it pink? It's all such a blur) and I would think he would wear a tutu made of some more colorful African fabric.

Plus the laundry got done...

So I'm not complaining!
