The New York Public Library’s 28th Annual Spring Luncheon, co-chaired by Lea Brokaw, Joan Hardy Clark, Liz Peek, and Calvin Trillin, will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. The Luncheon is widely considered one of the finest—and most fun—fundraisers in the City. Past years’ panels have featured renowned literary and public figures, including E.L. Doctorow, Fran Lebowitz, Azar Nafisi, Simon Schama, David Remnick, and Tom Brokaw.

This year's title is Not for Children Only, and we are celebrating our lifelong love of reading with a look at Children’s Literature. The program will be moderated by New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik, and we have a great panel of speakers including Children's Poet Laureate Mary Ann Hoberman, renowned novelist Salman Rushdie, and award-winning author and illustrator Chris Van Allsburg.

Proceeds from the Luncheon will benefit the General Book Fund and enable the Library to acquire the books and materials needed to keep its world-renowned collections current and vibrant.
