I am a contributing writer for N magazine, a beautiful new seasonal glossy on Nantucket Island. I have written for two newspapers, The Vineyard Gazette and The Cape Cod Oracle. I graduated with a journalism degree from a small New England College( editor of the New Englander college paper) where I met and was tutored by author Charles Gaines (Stay Hungry) in creative writing. I have worked as an editorial assistant at Modern Bride Magazine and Avon Books in addition to working in public relations at People Magazine. In 1980, I worked as the News Bureau Director for The Sherburne Corporation at Mount Snow Ski Area in Vermont. There, I wrote a poem for our snowless ski season, which was picked up by the wire services and eventually landed in Newsweek, The New York Post and The New York Times.( Also at that fateful winter at Mt. Snow, I was also the skiing double for Bo Derek in her huge flop, A Change of Seasons.). I have worked for many public relations agency's including Oligvy and Mather, and my own firm, Ryder Ziebarth Special Events and P.R. I have recently returned to the writing life thanks to teacher and mentor Lisa Romeo, where I am learning to craft non-fiction narrative. Before I found my way back to writing, I recieved a certificate from Columbia University's Executive Coaching Program, part of the Columbia MBA program for adults. I liked writing my thesis papers best of all. (Should've gone back for my MFA -- maybe a next step.) I have tutored 6th-8th graders in writing, co- owned an operated Wyatt and Coe Antiques , done a bit of freelance decorating, coached a few woman back into the workforce, and am the Garden History and Design Chair locally, for the Garden Club of America. I also mentor teenagers who's lives have been affected by a relative or friend who face problems with alcohol. I have lived abroad and love to travel. The further the better.
