We live in a day of divine visitations, days which angels have desired to look into (1 Peter 1:13). We hear every day of supernatural manifestations. God is speaking to His people! Are we listening? Visions in the Night reveals a unique glimpse at how our loving God speaks to us through dreams and visions to teach, encourage, and bless. Ruth Mayfield shares dreams she received from God over thirty-five years—along with scripturally sound interpretations, which accompany each dream. From apparent nightmares to visions of heaven, the reader is taken on journey showing Ruth’s deepening relationship with the Lord. God’s love, grace, and mercy shine through these pages. Transparency and unwavering faith enable her to pass on to the reader her passionate desire to know God.
Ruth gives an overview of the book:
Ball of Glory Fire
I found myself walking along a dirt road, rather a driveway, with buildings on either side. Off toward the distance, was a curved path lined with mature trees making a shady, inviting entrance to the area. As my eyes looked past the curve and down the path, I suddenly saw a ball of fire coming up the path. I stared for a moment, never having seen anything like it. It was about the size of a beach ball floating about six feet above the ground directly above the path headed in my direction.
I panicked. I ran into the building to my left, the closest one, to hide. The building was dorm style, like you would see at a camp in the woods, but not rustic. It had high windows, too high to see out of, or in, but they would let in air and light. There were cots lined along both sides of the room and about four or five people were inside chatting. I warned them that this ball of fire was coming toward us, but they didn't understand and didn't seem concerned. I knew it was getting close—I could feel it. One of the people was an older lady, I recognized her from my mother's restaurant job. She was a difficult, cross person most of the time. I thought because of her, the others wouldn't listen to me. Suddenly the ball of fire entered the room right through one of the windows at the far end. The window was closed, but it didn't cause any damage as it passed through. Again, this ball of fire was coming up the isle between the beds directly at me—only twenty feet away.
Nowhere to run! No time! I dove under the nearest cot. Now cots are generally quite close to the floor, and even though I was a rather thin person, the only part of me that would fit was my head and upper torso. I closed my eyes tight and held my hands over my eyes and ears at the same time to block out what I could of the impending devastation that would happen to those unassuming people. Perhaps it wouldn't even see me down here on the floor. They were just sitting on the beds. Even with my eyes facing the floor, tightly shut, and my hands over them—I could still see in my mind's eye this ball of fire coming toward me. It ignored the others and stopped for a moment, hovering directly above me.
Suddenly a flash of flame, like a laser, shot out of the ball of fire directly at the exposed portion of my lower back. I felt the searing etching like a tattoo as words were written on my flesh. It felt like a laser but with no burning pain. At the same time I could see as if from above, though my face was under the cot toward the floor. I saw—I felt—the words Jesus was here. As the words were completed, I awoke with a start! I was lying on my stomach on my bed in my bedroom. I could feel the fresh burn on my flesh. I was afraid to move, so I lay for a long time thinking about what I had just experienced.
