I just remembered a little bit ago, about 8:00 PM, to check my phone messages. One of the messages I had on my machine was from the fellow who owns the rather large business, whose advertising account the Tea Party set had bragged and threatened that they could get taken away from Dave Pearce's newspaper, if he published my columns. Unbeknownst to the Tea Party Bullies, I know the owner of that particular business. I grew up with him. I have played poker with him since I was 11 years old which was over 50 years ago. He is my friend. This business owner/friend called Dave Pearce at the Posey County News today, and told Dave that any threats to take away his, rather large, advertising account from Dave's newspaper, if Dave printed my columns, were made without his knowledge, and most certainly against his wishes, and that his advertising buys are made strictly on the basis of need, and not ever used to influence political issues anywhere, and certainly not here in New Harmony.  And that the fact that his name and business had been invoked in the process of harming me did not please him. I am quite delighted.

The lesson in this, for Dave Pearce, is that these Tea Party Bullies are mostly just liars and Bluffers. They could no more have poisoned Dave's relationship with this major advertising account than they could have walked to the moon. And I could have told Dave as much, if he would have talked to me man to man, as he should have done, instead of ducking my calls and Emails for two weeks, as he did.

Now, Dave, we all lose. You, me, the newspaper, the town, the whole county, all of us lose. The only "winners" are the  hateful, selfish, jack booted, fascist,  un-American thugs of the Tea Party set, who have once again used the power of government to destroy something good and worthwhile in New Harmony. What a crying shame.
