Change or not change? And is it caused by cows?
Blog Post by Ron Nesler - Dec.01.2009 - 7:32 am
Here in Indiana where we now live, where one would expect bitter winter weather at this time of year, a week after Thanksgiving , it is warm and spring like and our Irises are putting forth blooms, but meanwhile, from Las Cruces, New Mexico, deep in the normally sunny southwestern US where we previously lived and where one would legitimately expect warm sunshine all winter, we are receiving news of snow storms closing down schools and local government offices.
Is it the cows doing this?
About Ron
I am an ordinary, air-breathing, mortal person, born not five miles from where I now sit --NewHarmony, Indiana--

Hi Ron, I lived in Las Cruces for six years and never experienced snow there. However, I do remember the sad cows en route to El Paso. Do you refer to THOSE bovine? m
Rush's cows
Good to hear from you, Mary. I was not referring to the specific cows at the dairies south of Las Cruces, but rather to the generic cows that Rush Limbaugh and the Right-Wing-Nuts here in America are always blaming for global warming. First they say, "there is no global warming," and then they say, "And even if there is, it is caused by cows NOT people."
Just having a little fun at the expense of all my cousins here in Indiana who are mostly far to the radical right politically of Hagar the Horrible.
I am trying to get started blogging, please pray for my anguished immortal soul.

Nellie's Cafe at Las Cruces, NM
Mary, I lived for about thirty years around the Las Cruces area, what years were you there? And, are you familiar with Nellie's Cafe?

Hi Ron! God I feel like a fool re the cows...ha ha or moo moo! I am trying to get blogging again after a brief hiatus, not easy I might add. So many things going on in my life right now. My husband was a professor at the university in Las Cruces from 1989-1995. I don't remember Nellie's Cafe although I did love the Mexican food there and the smell of chilis roasting outside Albertson's Supermarket and the brown paper lunch bags filled with sand and candles in our driveway at Christmas time. I have mixed feelings about living there. Our house was broken into and my grandmother's wedding ring was stolen along with other treasures and I missed the ocean and I suppose my heart was always in Ireland during that period. What is the connection to Nellie's? Did you own it? p.s. keep blogging, I missed you. m
The smell of roasting chiles in the Albertson's parking lot
Mary, Nellie's Cafe is my spiritual center. The red enchiladas there are a truly a religious experience, with or without an egg on top. Their red chile is the best in the world, the salsa is painfully good and made from only the best and thickest walled chiles in the Mesilla Valley. Many people drive all the way from Albuquerque to stand in line outside to get a table for lunch at this small (~20 tables~) family restaurant. I have eaten at Nellie's for many many years, but not since Feb of 2007 when I became a full time year around resident of Indiana. I wish I were there now for a bowl of menudo or a nice chicharone burrito with frijoles refritos. My heart goes out to Senora Nellie (Manuella) and to Danny and Josie who are all my friends. If you see any of them, please tell them I am as hungry as a bear!( Ron es tan hambriento como un oso!)
