Country Joe and Me just went up on KINDLE. KINDLE is a new electronic reading devise developed by Jeff Bezos and his staff at Amazon.com. It is selling for $359. Currently over 145,000 books are available for application to KINDLE. The KINDLE can hold up to 200 full length books as well as various newspapers and magazines. No book costs more than $9.95. The devise stands alone as a wireless product similar to a cell phone. You don't need a computer to download the books you want - you do that right from the KINDLE and it takes less than a minute to download the book you selected. Bezos says, "The Kindle means to light a fire" - in the book reading world. Authors can earn 30% of the profits from KINDLE users. The fonts can be adjusted to various sizes for reading ease and the printed word looks terrific on the screen - very much like a real book. The pages can be turned by either hand by pushing a button.
The KINDLE is a revolutionary product that may become the way books are read in the future. When you travel there will be no need to haul 20 pounds of books around - they will all be on your KINDLE which weights in at 10 ounces. As the product is upgraded it will be able to hold more books and the next generation will be color capable. All authors on redroom should see that their books are made available for inclusion in the KINDLE book list. At least take a look at the product and see for yourself what the implications are for authors and readers.... go to www.amazon.com/kindle.
