Unexpected Holiday!

Ten days in April in San Francisco.

This was not part of my plan for the year, nevertheless a welcome surprise!

At age 86, Dad still craves for travel.  It takes an amount of mental and emotional conditioning, logistics and planning but this is important to him.

“It may be my last year.”  He’s been saying this for the past few years each time he makes this trip.

Every year that goes by, he moves a little slower and becomes more forgetful but he still keeps on going.

We never know.   So I plan every year like it’s going to be his last trip.

For over 30 years we have been coming and going, staying for long periods of time when mom was still alive.

I think that Dad likes to return every year to celebrate mom.  We all have strong emotional ties with this place we call our summer home.

San Francisco was mom’s favorite place to visit.  I think it’s Dad’s favorite too.

Dad’s joy and celebrating mom in spirit is my reward!
