Hello Everyone! A few of you (especially in the US) may be pre-occupied by other goings-on today, but if you’re looking for a distraction, I’d like to introduce a few authors who have recently joined Red Room:
Jessica Anya Blau’s debut novel, The Summer of Naked Swim Parties, is a coming of age story about growing up in Southern California as the child of two swinging, pot-smoking, part-time nudists in 1976, and was named a Top Summer Read by The Today Show, The New York Post and New York Magazine. Jessica received her MFA from the Johns Hopkins University’s Writing Seminars program, where she also taught. She has published over twenty-five short stories that have been nominated for numerous awards, including the Puschart Prize.
Levi Brackman is a popular Judaic scholar, writer, and teacher. He has taught on three continents and his weekly articles are read by thousands globally. He also writes a regular column published on YNET which is the website of the largest Israeli daily newspaper—The Yedioth Ahronoth. Rabbi Brackman is co-author of Jewish Wisdom for Business Success. The book uses some of the Torah and other Jewish sacred texts to achieve incredible business results.
Stacy Deanne is a best-selling author and novelist for Simon and Schuster/Strebor Books. One of her most popular books, Divas of the New Milennium, is a compilation highlighting the accomplishments of some of today's most popular women in music.
Win McCormack is publisher and editor-in-chief of Tin House magazine. He published Oregon Magazine from 1976 to 1988, has also been involved in publishing Oregon Business, Oregon Home, Travel Oregon, Military History Quarterly, and Art and Auction magazines, and was involved in the start-up of Mother Jones. He is editor of the books Profiles of Oregon, Great Moments in Oregon History, and The Rajneesh Chronicles. He won a William Allen White award for his investigative coverage of the Rajneesh cult from 1982-1986. He is also the author of You Don’t Know Me: A Citizen’s Guide to Republican Family Values.
Constantin Severin is the Romanian creator and theorist of a new concept on the contemporary art scene, Archetypal Expressionism. A member of the Writers’ Union of Romania, he is a journalist, writer and art critic, and has published nearly 30 art reviews and articles, as well as several books of poetry. In addition to numerous awards and honors, he is also a UNESCO Ambassador of euro-integration through art.
Eckhart Tolle is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Power of Now (translated into 33 languages) and the highly acclaimed follow-up A New Earth. Tolle was born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of twenty-nine a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey, and led to the writing of The Power of Now. Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada.
