(Updated October 9th, 2012.)
If you’re an author, traditionally or self-published, you can now sell your eBooks on Red Room! If you’re a reader, you’ll now be able to buy eBooks on Red Room in all formats (for your iPad, Nook, or Kindle Fire, even to read on your computer or print out). To celebrate, we asked Red Roomers to blog on the topic "My First eBook"—that is, reading, writing or publishing one. We also welcomed posts about the eBook phenomenon in general.
Our first joint venture is with eBook publisher Hyperink, launching Red Room Author Will Durst’s first eBook, Elect to Laugh! A Hilarious, Common Sense Guide to American Politics (2012 Election Edition), and a few selected bloggers will receive copies.
As Will says, the book is so good it has an exclamation point in the title. Read Will’s funny post on his behind-the-scenes anxiety about getting it published in time for the election. A few bloggers will get copies of Will's book:
- Technology has always been part of writing for member Lauren Grimley, though she acknowledges that things have changed a lot since the days of floppy disks. She traces her journey, and talks about what's changed and what hasn't, in her fascinating post, "Feet in the Future, Books in the Past."
- Author Madeline Sharples’s 2011 memoir immediately went out of print because her publisher went under. In "An eBook Success Story," she tells the story of how a new publisher rescued the book and helped it succeed both in print and as an eBook.
You can read all of the "my first eBook" blog entries here. This week’s entries contain valuable tips every potential eBook author should read; I hope you'll them all and let your favorite bloggers know what you liked about what they wrote. All of Red Room's past blog entries are collected here. Thanks as always for blogging!
