I am on day 2 of the NaNoWriMo challenge ..i'm calling it a challenge rather than a contest. The likelihood my manuscript is selected for review is infinitesimal.
First thing that I always walk about my tiny square footage to contemplate is-- the POV. i always struggle with 1st, 2nd, 3rd person? 1st person has seemed an easy road to me though it does present other challenges, vocal cadence, vocabulary, age, ethnicity.. .how would this one person speak? I read A History of Love recently and Nicole Krauss did it sublimely well. You could hear the old man, the young girl, her brother, marvelous. Her husband, Jonathan Safran Froer, also has a mastery of the technique.
At this point i have 2 characters, one an older woman, actress and a younger 30ish woman. Working to ensure you can read, see, hear and feel their differences but the element that ties them together will be a unique challenge.
