Have you ever noticed how the little guys/gals get ignored? Children get dropped off at a sitter as if they were material items. "They're only kids" is such a common phrase in today's society. There are currently an estimated 75.2 million children between 0 and 17 in the United States (childstats.gov). You think we'd notice there is more to those kids than just dropping them off at school, ushering them to the bus, ot leaving them at a sitter's house.
Kids are our tomorrow. We know how our childhoods were, so why not improve on that? Look back. Think about the way it was for us when we were their age. The common phrase we all like to use, "well if you think it's bad for you kids, you should have been a kid when we were kids." Ummmm....Sorry to let everyone in on a little secret but today's kids don't have it that great either. Sure, they have things we didn't have, but, let's face it. Progress happens. That's NOT a bad thing. Don't make today's children feel guilty if they have something that we didn't. Take it as a compliment, that you have provided what was not provided for you.
But the main thing is, LOVE them. I don't care if you have one child, 10 children or no children. ALL children make up the future. Guide them. Teach them. Love them like crazy. Show them a good time...........a happy time.........a time without hate, greed, jealousy, or envy. Teach them what you know. Know the saying "If I had only known then what I know now" ? Yeah.....I thought so. We've all heard it. Okay, great! So what are we going to do with that? How about we teach them what we know now and maybe.....just maybe...they'll look back and say, "my goodness I learned a lot from my mom and dad!"
