Very excited today. My 3rd session in my Bachelor's degree program starts on Monday. I received my Text book today (one of the classes has E-books). The two classes I'm taking this session are "Criminology" and "Corrections Solutions." I am thoroughly loving this Criminal Justice Program.
No, I'm 46, and have no plans of heading to the police academy after this program is over. So why take it? The nice thing about going to college online is that, everything you do, and everything people learn from you or you learn from other people is through......yes.....you guessed it.....writing. That's what it's all about. To date, I have had some of the nicest compliments from some of the professors in this school that has kept me very motivated both with my writing and my creativity. Here is one of the comments I received from Dr. Hough (pronounced "huff"):
"Given your incorporation of report elements and the manner you applied yourself to the assignment, I am pleased to say you are producing good quality work. Your punctuation, grammar, and spelling were generally correct. Your work continues to lead the pack! No additional comments to add. "
Receiving this from a professor feels so darn good. He asked me what branch of law enforcement I was interested in. I explained that I want to learn more, and to be educated enough to create the fictitious characters that will make up my stories. He was amazed that I would go this far in an effort to write fiction.
The book I received today, entitled "Criminal Behavior,-- A Psychosocial Approach," will open my mind to the psychology of the criminal mind. What better way to create that character? Skimming through the contents I even found that we will be discussing the mind of a terrorist. Gee Whiz----this will jump right into play with the series I'm working on.
Being able to tie my schooling right in with my writing is exactly how I wanted it all to happen. So.....so far so good. :)
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks??? :)
