R. N. Morris's Biography
Member Info
Writing as Roger Morris, I'm the author of the contemporary urban thriller, Taking Comfort, which was published by Macmillan New Writing in 2006. A year later, under the slightly different name of R.N.Morris, I published a very different book, A Gentle Axe (The Gentle Axe in America). It's a historical crime novel featuring Porfiry Petrovich, the investigating magistrate from Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. It was published by Faber and Faber in the UK and by the Penguin Press in America. A whole lot of other publishers around the world also put out editions. I followed that up with a second Porfiry Petrovich novel, A Vengeful Longing, which came out earlier this year. A Vengeful Longing was shortlisted for the CWA Duncan Lawrie Dagger - allegedly the biggest cash prize in crime fiction.
A Razor Wrapped in Silk, the third of my Porfiry Petrovich novels, was published in 2010.
Influences
Dostoevsky.
There are others, of course. So many, too many. In truth, everything is an influence. But Dostoevsky is the big one.

Interests & Hobbies
Writing is pretty all consuming at the moment. When I'm not writing, I'm reading, or watching films on dvd. I swim twice a week, which just about keeps me in shape.
