Between the slices of my pizza
Topped with grilled chicken cubes,
Salami slices, black olives, tomatoes, bell peppers,
Red onions and mozzarella cheese
I write this poem to take a break from chewing and swallowing
While sipping on a blueberry iced tea
With a bendy straw bending to my every whim and sip
As ice blocks peek shyly at me
From under some slices of lemon.
The Tabasco sauce makes my lips tingle.
The page fills as does my stomach
Until I’m ready to pop
With two slices to go
Just half a tea to go
Before heading for home
And the comfort of a DVD
And then my pillow with the fan
Blowing cool kisses my sweaty way.
