To Self Publish or Not to Self Publish

In addition to my story, Grayfield South, being published at MahoganyButterfly.com, I came across this interesting article:

http://www.mahoganybutterfly.com/cms/templates/expressions.aspx?articleid=2847&zoneid=373

The writer Mat Johnson had an interesting debate on his forum about this issue a few years back but his website is down. Still, this article raises a lot of interesting questions about if an author can self-publish and still maintain some respectability. So, I did a search and came across this:

Turns out that some very famous writers have self-published!

Until Next Time,

Self-publishing

It seems that the sea change the publishing world is undergoing right now has actually made it even tougher for first time authors to be picked up by traditional publishers … they are only interested in hitting home runs … if they can’t be reasonable sure that you’re going to hit one out of the park, they will not consider you … no singles or doubles these days. If a first time author ever wants to get their stuff to first base … self-publishing is pretty much the only option.
