Phil (Philbrick) Bowhay's Biography

I'm a California kid, born in Bakersfield a long time ago -- OK, 1930 -- grew up mostly in Pacific Grove. University of New Mexico, active duty with the Navy, worked with Dean Witter in Oakland and San Francisco as a broker and branch manager, from 1956 to 1994.  Now live permanently, I hope, in Carmel, and write a memoir column for the Monterey Herald.  My book, When The Lord Spoke, is a collection of these columns and pieces of fun and fiction. I do a lot of public speaking and am working on two more  books.  You may know my daughter, Laura Shumaker, also a Red Room member, and successful columnist, speaker, blogger and author, A Regular Guy.  Feel free to Google me.
