On Monday May 5, at the San Francisco International Film Festival, Phil Bronstein will interview directors Elizabeth Farnsworth and Patricio Lanfranco after the film screening of “The Judge and the General”, a documentary co-directed by East Bay filmmaker Elizabeth Farnsworth and Chilean producer/director Patricio Lanfranco. The film will have its world premiere at the San Francisco International Film Festival, May 4 and May 5 at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas, 1881 Post Street in San Francisco. The film follows the crimes committed by the government of General Augusto Pinochet, and has special relevance today, when terrorism and torture are top stories, and human rights abuses make headlines nearly every day. The actions of the “judge” in this film have changed Chile, and by extension the world. Human rights advocates around the globe say their work is strengthened because of what the “Judge” accomplished in Chile at a time when few dared take on Pinochet.
