The Wind Is My Wine

Announcing "The Wind Is My Wine" a new book of poetry by Phibby Venable.
Available on Amazon.com.

In, The Wind Is My Wine, I try to focus on the many aspects of human nature & on nature, as a whole. I have an affinity with the wind - gentle or destructive - it is always free. Like poetry, it is a movement with underlying currents that create responses. Many of the characters in my poetry, come to small or great understandings. I wrote this book for the voiceless that surround me.; the homeless & the hopeful, the grief stricken, and the dreamer. I believe we are all beautiful spirits at the mercy of the wind, so one way or the other, we must make it our wine.
About the Author
I was born in the small, rural town of Denton, North Carolina. I grew up loving the foothills, the dark pools of water, and the wild honeysuckle & morning glories. When I was seven, my father died. Shortly afterwards, my mother returned to her hometown of Abingdon. The wind here is often as cold and clear as an awakening. At other times, it wanders through the valleys, gentle and warm. I have the same passion for the sea. The soft humid, salt breeze is magical & the horizon is an endless portrait of beauty. I am always torn between the mountains and the sea. At the moment, guests in my house, include a small psychotic poodle, that I rescued after he had wandered the nearby highway for several days. He randomly bites everyone, including me, possibly still brooding on his abandonment. I also have a white lab rat left over from my daughter’s psychology class, two wild cats, and a dignified dachshund that keeps his long nose above it all. I am blessed with wonderful children, and my greatest reward in life has been the opportunity to be their mother.
