Red Uakari Monkey and the Tree of Life

AIRING ON CBC Canada Feb 25, 2010, 10pm. Deep in the Peruvian rainforest lives an rare primate- the Red Uakari Monkey, who serves a vital function in the jungle. Each wet season, when the Aguaje palm's fruit ripens, the monkey moves in to it's favorite patch and eats the fruit- dropping some on the forest floor which feeds the other animals that surround him. Now logging and hunting threaten the Uakari's domain- a new award-winning film on Animal Planet, BBC coming soon to CBC (April 8, 2010 at 8pm) on The Nature of Things follows the work of a young biologist trying to find out more about this amazing monkey.
