We are all here because of sex. God knew we couldn't survive without it. I mean, without sex, how would we have ever come up with the idea of a God? Doubt it? Even atheists cry out, "Oh, god! Oh, god!" when sex nears a climax.
We love sex so much that religion can't stop talking about it. The Old Testament begins with a naked Adam and Eve who are instructed to do it. Of course, the Old Testament being a religious book does say, "Be fruitful and multiply," but God knew we would do it more often than needed to multiply. From the Garden of Eden on, the Bible just can't stop talking about sex. True, much is written to restrict the God given urge and various forms of sex are given the "No, No!" treatment. But one could believe all the things you shouldn't do are there to instruct those poor souls who would never dream of doing this or that unless someone told them not to.
You see the same practice in politics when laws are passed making this or that a crime. Making this or that sexual practice a crime is one of the favorite ways our elected leaders can prove to us what moral citizens they are - until they get caught doing what they said was immoral.
Let's face it, without sex, religion and politics would go out of business. And speaking of business, business has always known sex can sell just about any product. On TV and on the Internet there are ads selling products to help men get it up and get it on with their chosen female. They don't say but they do know gay men are also potential users of their product.
But while we know all this to be true, here in the good, old US of A, we do seem to have problems with the realities of sex. Just look at our beaches where the swim suits of men resemble summer Pj's. Are American men afraid to show women what they got? And while American men hide what they got (or don't have), they expect women to show as much as the law allows. Our beaches are not level playing fields.
Porno. I really hate that word for reasons more that I can express here. It would take too much time. Basically, porno can be defined as explicit sex in books, movies, photos and paintings. I presume it does not include all the sex taking place every day by both married and not married people. So what is done every day by billions, is not porno so long as it remains hidden.
This brings us to why there will always be a dance between sex, religion and politics. The dance continues because sex is a constant reminder that we are human, physical beings alive only because two other humans had sex together. Religion and politics try to convince us we are or could be so much more. They play upon our insecurities, especially our fear of death. God laughed at Adam and Eve when the got smart after eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and suddenly realized they were naked. Religion and politics would have us believe the idiots went in search of fig leaves to hide their shame but what they really were trying to hide was their stupidity. But God is smarter than humans. God makes sure we are all born naked to remind us we are human.
