Peace! Everyone says they want peace. We pray for peace, not war. When people die, we prefer saying, "They went to their rest." We don't like saying, "They are dead."
Peace. Where would we writers be if the world were really at peace? No wars or crimes to write about. Hardly anything for the news outlets to report about.
Sure, peace is better than war but how much peace could you really stand?
Sometimes we see peace as just the absence of murder, rape and war. If we could eliminate just those three, I think we would all agree that would be peace.
Still, I have my doubts any of those three could be eliminated because all three stem from insanity and insanity is akin to lightening. It strikes when and where it will. It can suddenly happen even to the normally sane because temporary insanity is the child of fear and we all are subject to fear because of our instinct to survive.
To look at it another way, peace is always an option if we are willing to strive for inner peace. But when we strive to enforce our version of peace upon others, what we will actually create is the opposite of peace - conflict.
Like the line from an old rock and roll song, "There's just you and me, and we just disagree."
