Is your beloved pooch a dominate leader, charismatic, strong and/or sociable? If so, there is a very good chance that he was born at the time when the Sun or Jupiter was angular in his horoscope. This is the finding of a statistical study undertaken by French scientist Suzel Fuzeau-Braesc from the Universite' de Paris. The study found that the correlation between angular positions and temperament/behavioral traits were particularly strong for dominant dogs.
"We found that the association between extraversion/dominance and Jupiter, and between extraversion/dominance and the sun were amazingly strong. The results far exceeded the threshold of significance we set for the test. Some other much less impressive associations can also be made - for example, a reserved character and a prominent Saturn"
The study, first published in the Journal for Scientific Exploration, is now written about in, Astrology Off The Beaten Track, A Scientific Study of Planets and Personality. This 2009 book tells the story of Suzel Fuzeau-Braesch's 40 years of research that was meant to bridge the divide between astrology and modern science. (Click here for a wonderful book review) Unfortunately Dr. Fuzeau-Baesch died at age 80 before her book was published.
Dr. Fuzeau-Baesch research is facinating and is the most significant statistical research into astrology since that of another Frenchman, statistician Michel Gauquelin. Gauquelin was successful in linking parent's horoscopes to children's chart, and linking individual planets to outstanding professional success. The most famous of these is known as the Mars effect, which seemed to provide a scientifically-verifiable evidence that supported one of the precepts of astrology. The Mars effect proves a correlation between sports champions and the position of the planet Mars, either rising or culminating in the sky at the time of birth.
The statistical studies of these two French scientists dovetail perfectly and reveal just how angular planets can influence the personality and the life. They not only seem to validate each other but also one of the long held precepts of astrology - the importance of angular planets.
What does angular mean?
The angles are formed by the horizon line and the meridian line. These 4 angles form the cusps of the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses. Any planets conjunct these house cusps, is said to be angular and to strongly color the life.
Note: While the intermediate house cusps change depending on which house system is being used the angular house cusps always remain the same.
