Both K.M. Daughters were born outside New York City and one still resides there. So it would seem that New York would garner both votes. While we love NYC with respective two, big, red hearts on tee shirts, had our first legal, alcoholic beverages there when the drinking age was 18 and pasted Broadway tickets, restaurant brochures and other tourist memorabilia in our respective scrapbooks - sadly NYC loses. Chicago may be the 2nd city, but it's number 1 for K.M. Daughters. We're walkers - love it - for exercise, for communicating, for plotting. Chitown is a walkers' town. Wide sidewalks, pretty scenery - all those planters and busy sanitation workers. Mayor D insists on clean, safe, scenic and Chicago delivers in all the ways we appreciate. Step onto Navy Pier and your at "the shore". Yes, it's a lake, but the smells, the gulls, the tangy breeze - why not an Ocean? Walking along the lake shore, you're reminded of a crescent beach - depending on the season: in Maui or on the moon of Jupiter. There's much to debate on the topic of favorites - Cubs, Sox, Bears, Bulls versus et al. But there's the Bears Super Bowl Shuffle and Michael Jordan and the whole billy goat deal with the Cubs. What beats that? The food? Amazing. Deep dish pizza - sorry NYC. We set our novels in Chicago because so far, we haven't discovered one single thing that bores us.
