It is not so much just one story, I love anything written by Walter Mosley and his detective Easy Rawlins.  Of course, “The Devil in the Blue Dress” is on television at least twice a month on some channel. When I attended the movies before, attendees got so rude, with cell phones, banned liquor, and loud talk....

There is no particular book that has intrigued me as the real life story of Wallis Simpson and uncrowned English King Edward VIII.    Studying English history in “proper” Boston grade school, we all had a sense of indignity that a married woman would become divorced and  was a coquette.  How could she be a romancer on both sides of the...

Nothing in my Mom’s life was easy.  Her Mother died at twenty visiting her Mom when my Mom was five months old.  If Grandma Emma had to die, I’d glad it was there.  Great-Grandma, did not like, but thoroughly despised my Grandfather George because he was a Cherokee. Her Mom and brother were Irish.  She had a touch of tan in her skin.  He...

The last thing I want to do is get back to nature if you are referring to forests and birds.I was talked into moving from New Jersey to Georgia by my Dad’s relatives. I grew up inBoston. My head and heart will always be with my sorors of my life in my all girls’ schools. We are closer than CIA operatives. My late husband and I found a comfy place to...

It could have been a third floor game room or another bedroom. We moved there one year and one day after we were married.  Darling wanted his par-tee happy wife to...

Whatever I prepare to eat or serve on the holiday, I add love from all those I remember that have “Crossed Over”.  I eat turkey and chicken all year long.  I also serve all the dishes of my Mom and Nana and Mom’s friends.  Mom “Crossed Over” a month after her forty-first birthday.  Her recipes and those collected from her friends are still in...

Love is an intangible commodity.  By definition it can’t be because for each it has a different meaning. So, let’s compare it in vulgar terms that we all understand well….money. Some have plenty of money.  The more they have, the more they want at any price. When whatever is bought, one gets what they pay for: over-priced, inflated “love”.  Just as mint quality...

Memorial Day, Every Day, Every Year I ask you to take a few minutes to walk in my moccasins along a long dusty road. Please feel free to remove them and leave at any time. As a child growing up in Boston, we were taught that the Decoration Day began after the War Between the States when women placed flowers on dead soldiers’ graves. In time it became a holiday....

I am writing this in real time. From my nest in the family forest, I did look out to see beautiful sunshine and a temperature of 28*F. The weather gurus have been saying for days how cold it would be here. In places we have not been this cold since 1989. I believe it. Cold is usually 40*F in the winter. We all have pity party days. Mine has been a few months....
