where the writers are
Pat Brown, author of L.A. Heat

The last two years of my life have been a veritable ride on a carousel with a broken governor. It was a giddy moment when my book, L.A. Heat was published in 2006 by Alyson Books. It was a nightmare when I woke up in the hospital after collapsing in my home in Bermuda. By the time I woke up, I'd already been in the hospital for at least two months. They called my family to come down to Bermuda since they weren't sure I would make it. From that point it was an uphill battle but one I was determined to win. I had to learn to walk all over again and my memory was very bad, there are still people who I have no memory of having known in the past. Due to the length of time I was in the hospital I also lost all my belonging, including my computer with all my stories on it. But I came out of it with a greater appreciation for life and my family, who in their own way, went through hell to get me back into Canada.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back and finding such great groups as Red Room where I can connect with people with similar interests as my own.
