Anne Mercer really joined the band to make enough money for university. The fact that being a part of the military changed her life – and saved it – was something she never expected.

As a talented university student with a part-time gig in the army reserves, Anne gets selected to attend a prestigious military music school during the summer. Her life seems to be marching smoothly along, although she’d like to spend more time with her boyfriend, Paul. The problem is, he has other plans—and they don’t include her.

Things happen fast on a summer course, and it isn’t long before Anne notices the attentions of Alex. He is a handsome sailor, but the thought of falling in love with him, only to have him deployed to the middle of an ocean is a little more than Anne can take. She’s really not sure that loving someone who is away more than he is home is the way that she wants to live her life.

Faced with a gut-wrenching decision, the choices Anne makes lead her to some serious trouble—the kind of trouble where someone is going to end up terribly hurt, or worse, dead.
