Pam Johnson-Bennett, CABC, PCBC is a Certified Animal Behavior Consultant and author of seven best-selling books on cat behavior. She is the former Vice President of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and currently heads up that organization's Cat Division. She is also a Professional Member of the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals and a Professional Member of the Animal Behavior Management Alliance. She is also a member of the American Humane's Advisory Board on Animal Behavior and Training. Pam is the spokesperson and behavior expert for Friskies. She has done national media tours with the famous Friskies cats (the ones seen in commericals) and was the spokesperson for the Friskies Shelter Program which awarded grants to 10 in-need shelters. She was also a member of Friskies Dream Team along with Frank Bielec (Trading Spaces) and Lou Manfredini (Today Show). Together they designed and built the Ultimate Cat Habitat that was unveiled to national media. Pam and country superstar Leann Rimes unveiled a prototype cageless cat shelter to national media at Northshore Animal League.
In addition to running her veterinarian-referred behavior practice Cat Behavior Associates, she is a frequent guest on TV and radio, including Fox News Channel and CNN. Previously, she was the behavior columnist for Cats Magazine, The Daily, Cat, iVillage, Yahoo, Cats Channel. She is considered one of the foremost experts on cat behavior. Her ground-breaking "think like a cat" approach set the standard for evaluating and treating cat behavior issues.
Recently, Pam has stepped outside of her comfort zone and co-written a book on the roller-coaster ride of motherhood. There's also an interesting little detour I made in my cat behavior profession... or maybe you could call it a moment of temporary insanity. I co-wrote a book called COOKIES FOR DINNER (White River Press) where I spill the beans about my shortcomings as a mom. I may be an expert in the world of cats but in the world of kids...not so much.
