I finished reading Dr. Denis Leary's "A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy, and Stupid" entitled: Why We Suck. If you like crude humor with clever whit and tireless ranting, then you will love this book, as I did. Leary gives readers the print version of his standup routines. I enjoyed the common sense humor that he throws at the reader with a hard fast pitch right to the melon. Either you duck or take the hit and walk to first base. Of course, I took the hit.
He talks mostly about male-female relationships, and gives a surprising critique of guess who? Oprah Winfrey. I thought he was dead on with most of his perspective and direction of humor. I wish he had gone after Oprah, even just a little, but he held his words and praised Oprah for being the nation's "Mother Figure", and keeping all the idiots in line (thankfully). I agree with Leary's take, but it's always good fun to roast a power figure. And there is no one more powerful than Oprah, that's what Leary implies in the book.
I laughed out loud, and cried at the warm and fuzzy parts (not really, there were no warm an fuzzy parts). I recommend reading this book if you are a fan of Denis Leary, and I am a big fan (Don't hold it against me). If you are not partial to ranting, cursing, spittle, yelling, and more ranting then you might not want to pick this book up. But if you are, then grab a copy of Why We Suck by "Doctor" Denis Leary.
Out ofmy rating of Good, Gooder, and Goodest, I give it a Good.
