I learned about this book when I was browsing Barnes and Noble.com. Yes I go on the website and look for new books all the time. The premise intrigued me and it was placed on my list of books that I want. I got it as a present one day and I finished it that same day. I could not put it down! The story was gripping and emotional and moving. It wasn't a hard or complicated read mind you, no overly wordy sentences or various pages filled with rhetoric, it was a story that anyone could understand. There were no frills or metaphors to decipher before you could understand the story. It is what it is. It showed the good and the bad sides of the characters, and really the "bad" was just a part of human nature and I think that's why it became such a popular book.
So thumbs up to Khaled. I have still not read A Thousand Splendid Suns but I intend to.
