Literary Kern Celebrates With Random Writers Workshop


On Oct. 16 Random Writers Workshop teams up with Kern County Library's LITERARY KERN: CELEBRATING THE ART OF WRITING (Oct. 12-16) for a free four-hour session on creative writing.

You get a four-hour series on "Writing the Novel: The Basics of Publishing and Writing" hosted by Nick Belardes.

1. How to get published
2. How to start a novel
3. The art of creativity and imagination
4. Elements of dialogue and narrative

The Random Writers Workshop (RWW) continues to inspire creative writers and fuel aspiring authors with literary knowledge and wisdom.

Originally held weekly at Russo's Books in Bakersfield, Calif. for 33 weeks, RWW is now moving to online courses. It's headed up by Nick Belardes (journalist, illustrator, photographer, author of Random Obsessions, Lords: Part One, the first Twitter Lit ever Small Places, and former creative writer for the Fremont Street Experience).

Lectures and discussions have covered creative writing tips on getting published, as well as how to organize a novel, how to write narrative, how to get proper focus for chapters, how to write dialogue, setting, character development, flash fiction, point of view (and hellish verb tense), query letters and more.

Literary Kern is an incredible week of celebrating writing Oct. 12-16 that takes place at the Beale Library, Bakersfield College, Bakersfield Community Theatre and Russo's Books. Check listings that will appear in the news and online soon for events that you can attend!
