I'm wiped! It's been a really strange week of stop-and-start, and a lot of evening shifts. I haven't woken up with my husband once this week - we've been on opposite schedules. And tonight because of work, I had to miss a play at the N.A.C. (Luckily a friend stepped in as his date, but it left me more than a wee bit miserable.)
I just need to get through it without barfing or something.
"Eudon," by Sean Eads
You're in luck. This story, Eudon, is up for you to peruse at ReadShortFiction. Seriously. Go. Read. Enjoy.
What you're in for is a retelling of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf,' done with a tender and loving feel, where two brothers who have lost their third brother taken in a young boy they find nearly starving and who knows nothing of who he is. They give him the name Eudon - that of their lost brother - and the their family grows where before it has only become smaller.
This was a lovely surprise this morning. First off, I love tales re-told, and second, I know Sean Eads knows how to throw a curve ball into tropes you've maybe seen before. Double-win, no?
Loved where this story twisted, and it gave me a delightful shiver.
