With all the good news about advertisers dropping Rush Limbaugh like the bag of crap he is, this little news tidbit caught my eye:
LOCAL GIRL SCOUTS CANCEL ADS ON RUSH LIMBAUGH
Which begs the question: why in the hell were the Girl Scouts advertising on the Rush Limbaugh Show? We are talking Rush, the biggest misogynist on the air. "Feminazi" has been his moniker for women for two decades. Hell, he's used it so much it has made its way into the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
Perhaps the Girl Scouts were not aware that buying Clear Channel air time meant their hard earned cookie-cash could end up supporting Rush's anti-women scree. Perhaps. But advertisers can and do tell stations which shows they do or do not want their ads to run along side. So the "we didn't know" argument for them and all other businesses that claim they, "had no idea their ads ran on Rush's show," fall pretty flat.
An ad placed on Rush's show not only gives tacit approval for his swill, it also helps keep the swill coming. An embarrassment for an organization that has done such a good job in helping build young girls self esteem, skills, independence, as well as having an ongoing involvement in improving women's reproductive health (something Rush seems to have a problem with.)
And now a question for you, dear publicity-seeking writer. If your publisher said they were planning to buy ad time on for you on Rush Limbaugh's show, would you protest? Trick question, Rush's listeners, by and large, don't read. And publishing houses? Well, you know the problem there....
