Obama cries. He speaks to a small group of his Chicago team and tells them what is deep in his heart. They are, he says, the source of his hope, and they will go on to do greater things then him. They are the future and when things are hard in DC, he thinks of them.
I admire Barack Obama in so many ways, but one of the main ways is that he appears to walk the role of a world leader and somehow leave his ego behind. Focusing instead on how to make the world a better place.
I know republicans, many of them, are hurting. They honestly believe that President Obama does not have their interests in mind, and that he will radically change America. To them I say, America is changing whether we have Barack as our leader or not. The question is, will we change in a way that brings out our best, our highest, our most inspired selves? For me, President Obama is about reaching a place that is bigger than we knew possible.

Can it be four years ago you wrote that Elijah and you screamed 'Obama" into the night, thrilled with the historical win! Does Elijah remember?
It's wonderful that your son and others have such a role model, the most important man in the world who is unafraid to show genuine emotion.

Yes, Elijah remembers very well. In fact we reinacted the night. Ten minutes before the polls closed we grabbed our coats and ran the half mile to the Pioneer Square ballot drop off - made it there just in time to see the last person drop off their ballot. Then he helped close up the site. AFter that we walked into the Hilton where the democrats where having their party. Just as we were leaving they annouced Obama won. The place went wild. Great fun.....
