I have to admit this pedometer geek has blown it for the past two months (December and January). My step counts are way down in comparison to the previous months. I am sure the weather has something to do with it. It isn't nearly as easy to put in 10,000 steps when there is ice and snow on the ground and sidewalks. Combine that with colder days, and I find it isn't easy.
I have a treadmill and I do walk on it, but not nearly enough. Thirty minutes of walking on the treadmill, while giving me enough exercise to be considered heart healthy, doesn't give me nearly enough steps to qualify. I often walk more than the requisite thirty minutes, but it would take probably sixty or more minutes of walking (on the treadmill) to accomplish the 10K. I don't know about other people, but walking on a treadmill for too long is a bit boring. I hesitate to admit this, but it is true. It is much nicer when it starts to warm up, just a little, and we can go for a long walk. But for now, I guess I need to get moving any way I can. Which, in my case, means walking on the treadmill...or forget about the numbers!
