One of my friends on bookcrossing.com mentioned the fact that April 28th is Pay It Forward Day. For those not acquainted with the concept, it is basically doing something nice for someone else without the expectation of receiving thanks in return, and if thanks are given, suggesting the person pay it forward by doing something for somebody else, and so on. Although I had heard of the concept, I didn't realize that there was now a day designated for it (Gee, I wonder if Hallmark and American Greetings has developed a line of cards for this, but I digress). In a sense, it is somewhat similar to random acts of kindness, and yet not.
At bookcrossing.com, rabcks, which are known as Random Acts of BookCrossing Kindness, are not unusual at all. I often find my mailbox full of unexpected surprises like post cards, letters, notes, and books from around the world. On the other hand, I send out rabcks, too. I check out my bookcrossing friends' wishlists, and if I have a particular book, I send it on to them. I have also sent post cards and letters and small gifts to others, but I have digressed once again from the topic.
Today is Pay It Forward Day! So has someone shown you an undeserved kindness recently? If so, consider paying it forward!
