Inspiration for NaSmaStMo, also known as a river of stones as it is called on Fiona Robyn's website, can come from anywhere. They come from a greater awareness of what is going on in one's life if one pays attention to detail. As such, this small stone comes not from nature, but from domesticity.
inhaling the scent of clean towels, fresh from the dryer, and wrapping up in their warmth...
Per usual, this small stone is subject to revision...shaping and polishing into a stone of beauty
On a totally different subject, we recently purchased sugar that is, according to the package, carbon-free. How is it possible? Sugar is, by definition, a carbohydrate and is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen! Its chemical formula is basically CnH2nOn*...for example, glucose is 6 molecules of Carbon, 12 molecules of Hydrogen, and 6 molecules of Oxygen.
So, how do they take the carbon out of sugar? Somehow, that just seems wrong! However, having checked out the bag of sugar, I found out the answer and I share it here. From the bag, it says the following:
Certified Carbonfree** by Carbonfund.org
Sugar is a naturally sweet product from our earth, so it's natural for us to want to be good stewards of our environment. We are proud to share with you that the sugar you find in this bag of Domino** Sugar was grown and harvested on our Florida farms and has been certified Carbonfree** by Carbonfund.org, a non-profit organization that certifies products with carbon neutral footprints.
Our certification is unique, because our Florida-farmed products' carbon neutrality is the result of our own production and supply of clean, renewable energy, which replaces the use of fossil fuels. Our renewable energy facility generates eco-friendly power for our sugar milling and refining operations as well as tens of thousands of homes.
To learn more about our Carbonfree** certification and our earth-friendly practices, visit us at www.dominosugar.com/carbonfree
That's how the sugar we purchased is considered carbon-free!
Inadvertently, because we purchased this sugar, we have become green(er). It actually costs no more than the regular Domino** Sugar; it is just in a bag that is green, yellow, and white (as opposed to the traditional blue, yellow, and white bag).
