where the writers are
A Writer Resolves

I will move.  I will keep.  I will grow.

I will leap every day.

I will sit in a chair and know that it is my job to pretend I am flying.  I will smile at my good luck.

I will learn from each failure, while shedding it like old rain.

I will not ask permission.

I will honor the work of others.

I will show my gratitude as if it were the most beautiful thing I own.

I will shut myself away when necessary.  I will not apologize for this.

I will hear the music.

I will dance.

I will write.

I will write.

This will do.

Mylene, This is just what I need too. I am printing and keeping this near my writing desk when I need to be reminded. Thank you so much for continued inspiration!

Dear Rebbecca

Dear Rebbecca, that's exactly what I've done, too. And now I'll think of our shared words as we grip and lift our work.

Warmly,

A Fine Checklist

I'd been losing my edge, as well as my own resolve, these past few weeks, Mylene, so your words come at a good time, to remind and inspire. Thanks for sharing them.

Best,

J.

Seven times and counting ...

Dear Mylene,

I just had to let you know that it's seven times and counting ...since I first read your powerful, beautiful, words of wisdom "A Writers Resolves". Your words bring LIFE to my heart and soul.

A most pleasant surprise every time I find your list of followers that you have inspired getting longer. As you have mentioned "Let us begin".

Yes, here. A must keeper on the top of 2010 Red Room.

Truly,

Catherine Nagle

Dear J

Dear J, so nice to meet you in this way, and how kind of you to let me know my words reached you. The edge is something we have to feel for again and again, isn't it? We write blind, but having written, we see.

All best,

Mylene

"We write blind, but having written, we see"

Very well put, Mylene. We occasionally lose our way and must feel our way back, trusting our skills, our talent. The process is magical, and the need to connect—with ourselves, our muse, as well as with others—irresistible.

Why are my eyes tinged with tears as I read your words? Why do they reach me when I need them most? Thank you for your words. I gather them up and stow them inside of me, in the place where the gap has grown far too wide. thank you, m

Dear Mary

Dear Mary, how wonderful that you have reached out and connected across a great ocean, and closed that gap, too. My warmest thanks, and warmest wishes for a year of wonderful work. I'll be thinking of you as I prepare my lecture/performance later this month in honor of the Celtic goddess Brigid. Let's now dry these good tears, and follow her fiery arrow!

All best to you,
Mylene
