The list of forbidden products in USA is long; however, items are prohibited for some reason, it might be health-related, political relationships with the country of origin or products derived from animal abuse.
For example ivory, this is the bulk of the teeth and tusks of animals such as elephants. To obtain the ivory, first the elephant has to be killed and sadly it ends up as a corpse with an unnecessary mutilated face and head. Thousands of elephants are cruelty killed for ivory constantly; this fact not only is worrying but disquieting for the animals’ ecosystem, population, natural living and mostly for the specie’s preservation. The population has dropped in the last years; as a result, elephants are near extinction, 72% of the families are lacking female elephants and African ecosystems are severely damaged.
The ban on elephant ivory trade should not be lifted; we should all collaborate in trying to stop this injury done to wild elephants and other innocent animals from which ivory can be taken away. Together businesses, communities, and individuals can give hope in living to the species that are threatened.
