TOKYO IS DREAMING PREMIERE Free screening at the Phoenix Art Museum

Apr.29.2010

Please join us for a free screening of Peter I. Chang's TOKYO IS DREAMING at the Phoenix Art Museum.

This rich and evocative tableau of life in the Japanese capital is set to a beguiling score by Calexico's John Convertino. A portrait of the bustling metropolis, the film offers a modern-day take on city symphonies that flourished in early 20th-century cinema in films such as Man with a Movie Camera. Like those earlier opuses, Tokyo Is Dreaming uses the camera to observe the beating hearts of urban life - work, travel, leisure - and also alienation and homelessness, subtly drawing a map of the city in which quiet contemplation and frenetic activity overlap.

Peter Chang, director, and producer Mitch Cullin will attend the screening.

Runtime: 68 minutes.

Presented by No Festival Required; Sponsored by The Clarendon Hotel
