Of all the stories I write Sword and Soul are the ones I enjoy the most. I'm writing the type of stories I always wanted to read and I think it's really cool working to expand a subgenre. The best part is working with Charles R. Saunders. We spoke on the phone for the first time since meeting via internet two years ago. It was a wonderful conversation and I must admit I was a little star struck. It was great to discuss current and future projects with him as well as to finally put a voice to the images.
Speaking of new projects, Charles has a few that will soon expand the roster of sword and soul titles. I mentioned in my last blog that Changa's Safari, Volume One will hit the streets in September. What I didn't mention is a joint project between Charles and myself. Griots: A Sword and Soul Anthology, is nearing completion! This will be the first Sword and Soul Anthology as well as the first book I've published including other writers. Those other writers include Charles (of course), Minister Faust, Geoffry Thorne, Maurice Broddaus and Carole McDonnell. We also have a few writers whose skills indicate they will be part of the sword and soul legacy very soon. The book will include illustrations as well and will be available as an e-book. Griots will be available end of this year.
I'm really excited about all this. This was the reason I became an independent writer. The recent changes in the publishing industry have strenghen my belief in taking this path. Not only to get to pursue my passion, I also get to create opportunities for other writers, too. Now this is what I call a labor of love.
