Well, now isn't this something? I'm merticulous about tracking my numbers as I anticipate my sales reaching the 'tipping point' and hurtling me into independent publishing stardom. Not really. I see myself as a start up business so I'm constantly checking my numbers to see in which direction I'm heading. I'm happy to report it's the right one! First quarter last year I sold 39 books. First quarter this year I've sold 163! And the pace continues. I've already surpassed in one week my total for the entire month of May 2011. I sold 332 books last year; if I keep up this pace I'll sell 1300 books this year. That isn't exactly the 'tipping point' but it's significant increase over the year before.
The most significant factor has been e-books and social networking. Without those two I would be hard pressed to increase sales, especially since I'm not in any bookstores. And that's the beauty of these days and times. I can sell all over the world from my laptop, and I do. I guess it helps that I spin a pretty decent story and I'm building a decent reputation in heroic fiction cirles.
It feels good to see your plans come to fruition. I have a long way to go, but it seems I'm getting there. My thanks to those of you who have taken a chance on my books. I promis to keep working hard to write good books and stories.
